This Hot August Day In Brooklyn
Darling, hi...
this hot August day in Brooklyn
created a ravishing scene...
temperatures are rising above hundred,
tell me have you wondered?
what's happening on the periphery
while you work in the city.
have your thoughts crossed the bay?
wond'ring was I okay...
or, have you set them in motion
imagined our walk by the ocean
on the Coney Island boardwalk,
or was it all a cheap talk...
how we'd be together when summer's here,
and you would always try to stay near
it may seem strange in a way
I find you in my everyday...
with you things were on an even-kneel
I was a dreamer, you kept it real,
but then you spoke of setting love free...
no, no... your leaving did not bother me !?
I just sit here with my back to the wall
watching a game of basketball...
not even sure what changed your mind?
some girl called, and you went blind!
was it her beauty that pulled you in...
you no longer call to go for a 'spin...'
rain is falling here by the highway
the sky has turned to darkest gray...
again I watch you dance on the cloud
my thoughts run deep, the music is loud
last night late you called me twice
saying how everything comes with a price.
today again... you said 'hallo'
your voice set my spirit aglow...
you're coming back, we'll take it slow
we are on a different plateau.
I said hun, let's role the dice
another game, it might be nice,
but I see another side to tomorrow
where some things we keep, and some we borrow.
