An Ode To You
You've gone now to a better place
You blessed this earth, and the human race
(Chorus)
But your life was not lived in vain
You showed me sunshine, and you showed me rain
You showed me life, a whole new world
You healed my wounds, when I was burned
You helped me up, when I was down
You cheered me up, when I started to frown
You're one in a million, words can never descirbe
But you are not here now, and many will cry
Many will miss you, but one things for sure
A part of me's missing and the wounds are still sore
I break down at nightime, when you're not around
Silently crying, not making a sound
Did I tell you I loved you, and how much I care
The house seems so empty, 'coz you are not there
[Chorus]
And the children they miss you, they don't understand
Why their mothers not here now, and so they demand
That I tell them the story, of why you're not here
I tell them you met a man and his beer
You were too trusting and the man turned on you
You didn't see it coming, but I'm dam sure you knew
When the man took your life, for no reason that's clear
As he took out his knife, a voice in your ear
Said soon you'll feel nothing, and true as his word
Only minutes later, you were gone from this world
[Chorus]
God knows why he did it, but in peace now you lay
And wait for me darlin, for we'll meet again, someday

Author's Comments: This song is written through the eyes of a man who's wife had recently been murdered. It is very much a slow, emotional song, and so the only suitable accompaniment for this would be a piano.
